V8 Sii ROV to Inspect Millenium Falcon
A large formation on the floor of the Baltic has aroused international curiosity and excitement. Divers and treasure hunters Dennis Åsberg and Peter Lindberg, who found the wreck of Jönköping containing vodka and champagne worth millions of dollars, made a new discovery last summer.
A sidescan image showed what appeared to be the Millenium Falcon, with a diameter of 90 meters, complete with 300 meters of drag marks, at a depth of 87 meters, according to Aftonbladet.
Now they finally have a chance to explore the circle closer using the V8 Sii ROV, to determine that the area is safe for diving. Using their own funds and sponsors, they have bought and equipped a vessel for the expedition. Several TV crews, divers and a wide range of technicians and financiers will be along for the ride.
There is concern that others might make it to the secret location first. There is a military exercise in the area with both Russians and Americans are involved. Dennis Åsberg can not help but wonder if it is a coincidence that it is happening right now.
Stay tuned!

A Google search turns up plenty of speculation about what the object may be and how it got there.
