Finding and Documenting Shipwrecks with the V8 Sii ROV
The V8 Sii has been used to identify and explore many wrecks, from documentation of historically significant ships that sank hundreds of years ago to investigations of recent submarine and airplane crashes.
The high power to size ratio and precise control system makes the V8 Sii ideal for this type of job, allowing operators to get close to and even penetrate wreckage without stirring up silt.
Perhaps the most well-known example is the "Ghost Ship" a 400 year old wreck discovered virtually intact at the bottom of the Baltic Sea. The wreck was discovered by MMT AB and documented by Deep Sea Productions for Swedish Television.
